What makes Private Tour: All-Highlights of the Vilnius Old Town a unique experience ?

Old town is where Vilius began. It's full with the medieval charm and beauty. It's 74 quarters large, with 70 streets and lanes numbering 1487 buildings. It is a place where some of Europe's greatest architectural styles—gothic, renaissance, baroque and neoclassical—stand side by side and complement each other.

The Gate of Dawn or Ostra Brama (Sharp Gate) is a city gate, one of its most important religious, historical and cultural monuments. It was built between 1503 and 1522 as a part of defensive fortifications for the city of Vilnius. Of ten city gates, only the Gate of Dawn remains, while the others were destroyed by the order of the government at the end of the 18th century. The Chapel in the Gate of Dawn contains an icon of The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of Mercy, said to have miraculous powers.

This is the second Church in Vilnius established by the Jesuits, and built to honor St. Casimir, the patron of Lithuania. It was conceived as the most important Jesuit Church in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Its construction began in 1604, following the canonization of St. Casimir.

One of the oldest City squares is located in Vilnius Old Town, Didzioji Street. The triangular City Hall Square appeared in the place of the former market square, which already existed in the 15th century.

St. Anne's Church is a Roman Catholic church, one of the most interesting examples of Gothic architecture in Lithuania. With the stunning gothic exterior, the interior is decorated in the Baroque style, as is its altar. The imitative neo-Gothic bell tower, constructed in the 1870s to Chagin's designs, stands nearby.

Founded in 1579 during the Catholic Counter Reformation, Vilnius University was run by Jesuits for two centuries. During the 19th century it became one of Europe's greatest centres of learning, and the university survived shutdown by Tsar Nicholas I, rebranding under Soviet rule, and closure by the Nazis. Its spectacular architectural ensemble includes a 64m bell tower, baroque church, courtyard and fresco-laden hall, all of which are open to visitors.

One of the picturesque parts of the Vilnius University building is the Church of Sts. Johns and its bell tower. The construction of this church lasted for almost 40 years and was completed in 1426. At that time it was a Gothic building. In 1571 the church was transferred to the Order of Jesuits and became a part of the university complexes.

The Presidential Palace is located in the historical center of Vilnius. Previously, there was the palace of the Governor General, now it is a monument of history and the official residence of the President of Lithuania.

The Cathedral Basilica of St Stanislaus and St Ladislaus of Vilnius is the heart of Catholic spiritual life in Lithuania. It's the main site for the coronations of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania and the burial place for many famous people from Lithuanian and Polish history. Inside, there are more than forty works of art dating from the 16th through 19th centuries, including frescoes and paintings of various sizes.

The monument to Grand Duke Gediminas is one of the attractions of the Old Town of the capital of Lithuania Vilnius, a monument to its founder, Grand Duke Gediminas.

It was originally constructed in the 15th century for the rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the future Kings of Poland. The palace, located in the lower castle of Vilnius, evolved over the years and prospered during the 16th and mid-17th centuries. It was demolished in 1801. Work on a new palace started in 2002 on the site of the original building, and it was opened in 2009.

Gediminas was 14th century Grand Duke of Lithuania. The three-floor tower was rebuilt in 1930 on the spot of the original medieval fort. Some remnants of the old castle have been restored, guided by archaeological research.

The main boulevard of Vilnius stretches from the Neris River in the west to the wide square of Cathedral Square in the southeast, and is named after the legendary Grand Duke Gediminas. Built in 1836 as Vilnius expanded with the arrival of the railway line from St. Petersburg, Gediminas Avenue (Gediminas Avenue) was originally named George Avenue and was renamed several times in accordance with the regime of power.

Lithuanian National Drama Theater was founded in 1940. The repertoire of the theatre consists of the world classic dramatic art including Sophocles, Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Lorka, Beckett and works of modern dramatists including Lithuanian authors.

The Lithuanian National Library named after Martinas Majvidas - the largest scientific and (since 1991) parliamentary library in Lithuania; State universal repository of Lithuanian, Lithuanian and foreign publications; the national press archive, as well as the focal point for the national bibliography, state registration of lithuanian publications and the scientific and methodological activities of the country's libraries.
