Vienna Food Walk: A Self-Guided Audio Tour

Rated 3 Stars, based on 1 Reviews.
Vienna is known for a lot of things, but none of them seems to be food. As an Austrian country hick who moved to the city from a tiny village and has lived my whole adult life in Vienna, I think that this is totally wrong. Viennese people are what they eat. This tour will show you how the Viennese people see their city, by showing you which foods and especially drinks are liked the most by the people here. You'll hear the stories that shaped the Viennese people including:
– What the Romans built while in Vienna
– Which tiny snacks that survived two world wars
– Old buildings that look new and new buildings that look old
– Vienna very own wine
– Which food good enough for the emperor
– And why ice cream parlours closing in winter
So tuck into this food-filled off the beaten track walk through the first district and eat like a local.
The tour includes optional stops at five eateries, so come hungry!

Vienna Food Walk

Rated 4.9 Stars, based on 25 Reviews.
This tour will introduce you to some of Vienna's classic dishes. The walk through Vienna's historic first district leads to various Restaurants that offer authentic Viennese cuisine. Viennese native guides will lead you through the hidden byways of the old city. On the way we will stop at various establishments for food and refreshment. Experience not only the food but also Viennese wine, beer and Schnaps. Of course every place we visit also offers non-alcoholic alternatives. Mostly we will be visiting real "Beisls" where food is hearty and plenty.
Fair warning: Viennese food tends to be on the heavy side. If you hope to lose weight while walking through the city, this tour is probably not for you.
There will be no Schnitzel. We will be happy though to point out some good places if you are interested.
The tour takes about three hours.
